All the Generous Gifts Given to Us
On Earth Day I helped clean up Durango with two OM Sisters I live with, Sister Andrea and Sister Camille, and about 50 other people from different church communities in the area. I felt joy in my heart for people to come together for this common purpose of taking care of our home, this enormous gift from God, and to love up such a large area of the city. Part of me often wishes I could sleep in and just hang around the house catching up on stuff, maybe watch a movie, but I know that usually when I do that, I get less done and feel useless and complacent. While working, I sang over and over “Down to the River to Pray” from the Chicago Novice CD and Father Peter’s “God of My Being,” and I felt love stretching my heart and that it is joyful to work and love up our earth home on Saturday morning as a small way of expressing thanks to God for all the generous gifts given to us.
